A Comparison of Faulty Antenna Detection Methodologies in Planar Array

Broadcasting, radar, sonar and space telecommunication systems use phased arrays to produce directed signals be transmitted at the desired angle. This system requires a large number of antenna elements. The presence faulty element(s) in an array causes asymmetry, which results deformed radiation pattern with higher sidelobe levels. Higher levels indicate waste energy by transmitting receiving unwanted directions. Hence, it is important develop method that detects elements corrects pattern. To correct failed pattern, must identified first. There have been various studies conducted on linear correction finding elements, but investigation planar limited. Further, optimization suggested for does not necessarily work array. In this study, detection was developed search (PS), simulated annealing (SA), particle swarm (PSO) methods reducing Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) as objective function. analysis varied 8 × 6 different types failures. were compared find best identify element’s location produced outstanding locations providing 100% accuracy all failure, while other do same.
